Upon reaching Lago di Sorapis, marvel at its renowned intense color, which ranges from light blue to turquoise. This striking hue is a result of the fine rock dust from the glacier of the same name, fed by the meltwater of spring and summer. My thoughts on the hike
I have visited several lakes in the Dolomites and nearby, such as Lake Braies, Lake Carezza, Lake Tenno, Lake Garda, and many others. However, I must say that this one is my favorite thus far. The captivating turquoise-blue water, especially dazzling in sunlight, enhances the charm of this famed lake. Despite not drawing as many visitors as Lake Braies or Carezza, which can be reached without hiking, Lago di Sorapis provides a serene escape with stunning vistas. While the trail boasts scenic beauty, it does include steep and narrow stretches, potentially daunting for those afraid of heights. Nonetheless, speaking from personal experience, overcoming my fear of heights wasn’t an issue as I navigated the paths equipped with metal cables and ladders.
